Q: What is a Registered Dietitian?
A: A person who has studied diet and nutrition at a college program approved by the American Dietetic Association, completed 900 hours of supervised practical experience accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation for Dietetics Education, and passed an exam to become an RD. An RD is the most credible source for nutrition information.
Q: Where would I find out about what school offer this major? I am very interested but can’t find any schools that seem real.
A: There are many programs that try to offer nutrition certifications and degrees. But, only CADE (Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education) approved undergraduate programs will lead to a credible degree in nutrition or dietetics. By completing a CADE approved dietetics program, you will be eligible to complete a dietetic internship (and then be able to become a Registered Dietitian). Here is a link to where you can find the approved programs.
